MinnKota Terrova 80 Bowmount Trolling Motor with Autopilot and Universal Sonar 2 (80-lbThrust, 54" Shaft)

I love this thing!
I got a new boat this spring (first one ever). I decided I was going to rig it with this motor because it seemed to have everything I wanted. The last boat I owned had a under-powered, cable-controlled motor that was a constant pain. It interfered with fishing. I researched a bit and discovered iPilot and immediately knew this was for me.

I have it mounted on a 17' aluminum, deep-V with a 90 HP eTec. It has more than enough thrust for this boat and can drag it along at about 7MPH according to the GPS. After one season, these are my impressions:

I fish on the upper Mississippi where current and wind are a constant challenge. When you find fish, you can drop anchor or press a button on the remote to hold you in position using the 'virtual anchor'. It works great in all but extreme wind and current conditions. In those situations, the wind tends to spin the boat and the motor has trouble dealing with that. If the bow stays into the wind and current, the thing is...

just learned after the 30 day window to be able to return to amazon there is NO factory warranty. so much for a 2 year warranty
