Sea Eagle 420x Inflatable Kayak with Pro Package

Pretty good....
This item apparently ships directly from the manufacturer and there is no tracking number given, so there is some stress involved with wondering when it will arrive. But it came quickly in two boxes, one the Kayak and the other the Pro Package material, and all were in good shape. It unpacks easily and I quickly inflated and checked it out. There is plenty of room for two persons or a person and a dog, but with two people there is not much room for overnight gear. I took it out for a 4 hour float down the Rogue River with no problems. I scraped over quite a few rocks and gravel bars, and the bottom looks fine and seems quite durable. It is very hard to steer the kayak with river current and two people on board, it just wants to spin. I have ordered the stabilizer for the kayak which I hope will help with the steering. With the pro package you get some extras, including the pump and seats. The pump is quite nice, seems durable, high volume, and takes only a few minutes to pump up the...
Good Boat, But Issues
I have a 2011 sea eagle 420x that I have owned for almost a year. It is a very strong boat and it is made of good quality. I was looking for a boat for white water (Upper and Middle New River in WV) and I was not happy with the high prices of NRS for their inflatable Kayaks.

I felt that the price for the 420x Pro Package with the carbon paddles and the Pro seats seemed a little more reasonable.

The good: The carbon paddles are well made. The air pump works well. The boat seems very sturdy and stable and I feel safe in it going through the rapids.

The bad: The 2011 model has only 4 self bailing holes and they are poorly positioned too high in the bow and stern. I have purchased additional hole kits from the manufacturer and I have added a number of holes to the bottom but when the drop stitch floor inflates it pushes down against the holes effectively closing them and keeping the boat three inches deep in water.

I see that the new model...
worth every penny
I love this kayak. I just took it down a class IV stretch of the Clackamas River and it handled perfectly. The boat was nearly full of water and it drained in seconds. The center of gravity is so low that I never feared being thrown out or flipping the kayak. It also takes a beating like a champ. It has taken full speed collissions into boulders and tree limbs and it doesn't even make a scuff.

I've also taken it upstream on calmer water and it was easy paddling while using the skeg. With the high-back seats I can go for hours in total comfort. This is the most versatile kayak on the market. There is even an attachable sail kit available. It comes with a 180 satisfaction guarentee. I am fully satisfied and happy I did my research.
