Awesome scope
I bought this scope a couple months ago for a new Remington 700 .223. I own several other brands of scopes in the same price range, including Simmons and Bushnell, mostly in a 3-9 model. With that said, this is by far my favorite scope.
I have not been impressed with the eye relief of the Simmons scopes or the clarity of the Bushnell scopes at longer ranges. This scope wins in every category, and finally I have a scope for less than $200 that I am completely satisfied with. I have also used friends' guns with higher end Leupold scopes, and while they are fantastic scopes, I wouldn't consider buying one after owning a ProStaff. I am currently selling off some of my old scopes and looking to replace them with ProStaffs as they go. If you are in the market and don't know whether or not to get the 3-9 or 4-12, I will tell you that for $30 it was well worth the upgrade, the image is very crisp at 12 magnification. When I bought my scope it was $197 with free Prime shipping,...
Excellent scope both in price and application!
I bought this scope at the end of the season last year shortly after purchasing a new 300 win mag. I sighted it in at 100 yards and then put it away for the winter. In preparation for hunting season this year, I headed out to the firing range. All I've previously owned is 3-9x40 (no bdc), so I was anxious to see what the bdc would/could do for me. I have to say, I am very impressed with this scope. It is very clear, easily adjustable, and the spot on calculator provided on the Nikon website is a neat deal as well. Last night after work, I went to the range and shot out to the predetermined yardages based on the spot on calculator - they were dead on and I shot targets out to 680 yards, hitting them every time. I love this scope and have recommended it to friends and coworkers. I only paid $189 at Scheels and I thought that was a damn good deal. I highly recommend the bdc and checking out the "spot on" application on the nikon website.

A welcome upgrade form the 3-9x40!
In my opinion Nikon is the hands down best bang for your buck going! In your hands, it feels like a tank....well built and ready for action! Full lifetime warranty, Nikon's Spoton Ballistic charts, and 98% light transmission make this a real no-brainer! I was in a local sporting goods shop not long ago, and held practically every scope in their inventory in the 3-9's to the 4-12's range. (I'm putting this on a Henry Golden Boy .17hmr, and didn't need anything larger)I asked the guy to just hand me scopes, and one by one, without looking at brand name or any other hype, I just looked through them. Sounds silly I know, but if you have no preconceived ideas about what you're looking through, then you can only judge on what you see and feel. After about 10 scopes, he placed one in my hands that when I looked trough it it was OBVIOUSLY brighter, clearer, and was crisp and sharp to the edges. I sat it aside as looked through another two or three, and was handed another SUPER bright, clear...
